Residential homes' consultation gets results
As part of Sandwell's modernisation of older people’s services, it was proposed that four of the five council-run residential homes should close.
Agewell worked hand in hand with Adult and Community Services to find out what older people at each of the Agewell Local Forums thought about this.
We also visited each of the residential homes facing closure and spoke with residents, their families, carers and staff.
As a result of the feedback we gained, Sandwell Council’s heads of service decided to close only one of the homes.
The remaining four were put out to tender and the contracts for the private operators running these homes states that they must carry out the necessary improvements on the buildings.
