Reminiscing Together
Everyone has a life history and now people living with dementia in Sandwell will have their life stories remembered forever thanks to a special initiative through the Dementia Navigators service.
Dementia Navigators are delivering Life Story books to the doorsteps of people living with dementia and helping carers to record their stories.
The ring-bound book is divided into different sections for each stage in life. There are plastic wallets where photos and mementos can be inserted and pages where stories and special memories can be written down.
“Life Story books are not just about the past, but about lived experiences now and in the future, so narrative and images can be added at any time,” explains Barbara Stephens, Chief Executive of Dementia Pathfinders. “The prompt cards support reminiscence and encourage conversations about special occasions and meaningful memories.”
