Meeting Centre Launch Success

Our Meeting Centre Launch in Oldbury yesterday was a great success.

24 members of the public attended, along with Thinking Differently About Dementia (TDAD) staff and our partners from the Sandwell Community Dementia Service (SCDS). Also present were Leap Services and Sandwell Healthy Homes advising people on energy saving, safety measures and other support available to people within their homes.

Donna Adams and Sinead Smith from the National Lottery Community Fund also came along and enjoyed the event, commenting how lovely and welcoming it was.

We had an exercise demonstration, a lively sing along and plenty of tea and cakes. We were able to respond sensitively and immediately to people who needed advice and support on the day from our experienced staff within the TDAD and SCDS teams and also provided information on our referral process and services available.

Rosemary and her team at Warley Baptist Church made us very welcome, so a huge thank you to them. Thank you also to local businesses who supplied us with vouchers and products for the Prize Draw, including Holistic Harmony in Oldbury and Relaxing & Beauty Therapies in Halesowen.

The general consensus was that it was a lovely warm and welcoming event, with plenty of laughter and chat. Our youngest attendee was under 5 and had great fun with the Magic Table and the relaxation exercises with her Nan!

There was a lot of interest shown in the Meeting Centre which will operate weekly, 10.30am to 3.30pm, from Tuesday 26th April. Our aim is to help improve the lives of people living with dementia.
