Knitted and crocheted baby sets are flying off the shelves at our Hospital Shop
A huge thank you to online charity, Textiles Satkaar Group, for donating 26 knitted and crocheted baby sets for us to sell at the Agewell shop at Sandwell Hospital.
International rangoli and textile artist, Ranbir Kaur, started the group with just three ladies to support women from different communities throughout the Covid-19 Pandemic, helping them with the daily issues of isolation caused by local/national lockdowns.
The group gave ladies a chance to talk about current affairs, health issues, share jokes, recite bhajans and shabads, share recipes and even have sing-alongs. Alongside the chat they knit and crochet baby cardigans, shawls, bootees and caps for unborn babies which are then distributed free to local hospitals maternity departments.
The popular group has quickly grown, and now over 20 women from across Birmingham, London, Leicester, Ireland and Nairobi have joined and meet up every Wednesday from 1.00 to 3.00 pm via Zoom.
Agewell Services Manager Pauline Withey said: “We were delighted that Ranbir reached out to us to see if we’d be interested in a donation of these beautiful baby sets. They have proved to be so popular and we are being asked on a daily basis if we are going to have any more.”
There is an open invitation to all ladies out there that would like to join the group, and new members are always welcome. To join, email Ranbir on enquiries@ranbir-arts.co.uk and include your name and phone number. Or click here for more information.
